SEMINAR REPORT

The seminar was inaugurated on 31st March, 2006 at 9.00 am by the Chief Guest Mr. Rajan, Director, Safety group Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Reasearch, Kalpakkam, Chennai. The Principal Dr.R.Prabhakar stressed the need for the efficient thermal systems and the Head of mechanical engineering department Dr S. Dhandapani emphasized the latest developments in thermal engineering which are useful to both institution and industries. He also urged the academics, practicing engineers and research scientists to think towards cutting edge technologies needed to shape the modern industrial world.

           The inaugural function was followed by a key note address by Mr.Rajan who highlighted the challenges ahead in the thermal engineering for the engineers. His address was followed by a special lecture by Dr.K.Velusamy whos is also from IGCAR, Kalpakkam on the topic Thermal Hydraulic Investigations of a Liquid Metal Fast Breeder Reactor.

       The afternoon sessions were shared by two experts namely Mr.P.Nagamanickam ,Deputy General Manager,Renovation & Modernisation Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited Tiruchirapalli 620 014,and Mr.Sivakumar, Regional Manager,Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Business Group, Voltas Limited, CHENNAI - 600 018. Mr.P.Nagamanickam gave a special lecture on Advances in Power plant Technology   – Development of Boilers Firing Fossil Fuels. Mr.R.Sivakumar gave a special lecture on  Cold Chain Trends and Development.
