 NATIONAL WORKSHOP

ON

“POWER QUALITY  ISSUES AND CHALLENGES

IN DEREGULATED ENVIRONMENT”

22 March 2006 

             One day National Workshop on “POWER QUALITY  ISSUES AND CHALLENGES IN DEREGULATED ENVIRONMENT” was conducted by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore on 22nd March 2006. This workshop is aimed at being a forum to gain insight into the latest developments in Power Quality and Reliability issues and challenges. It will provide technical inputs from the leading industry domain experts and also an opportunity to have a first-hand feel of the latest trends in power quality improvement.

The inaugural function was held on 23rd March 2006, with Dr.S.Dhandapani, Professor and H.O.D., Department of Mechanical Engineering, CIT as the Guest of Honour. Mrs.M.Sundarambal , senior faculty member of EEE department delivered the welcome address.The Professor and HOD of EEE department   Dr.P.Anbalagan, in his presidential address emphasized the need for quality of power especially when the critical loads are used.  In his address Dr.S.Dhandapani,  explained the importance of various power quality issues. Dr. S.Vasantharathna, the Co-ordinator,   provided   an  overview  of the  Workshop.  Experts  from industries    Er.R.Narayanan  and  Er.Paras Patodi , offered felicitations. Mr. E.Chandra Sekaran, Co-oordinator, proposed the vote of thanks.

The Workshop was attended by students, Faculty from many academic institutions and Industrial participants. The number of participants for the Workshop was 87. Technical lectures were delivered by the experts from Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) and Crompton Greaves(CG).
