A National Conference on “Innovative Technologies in Civil Engineering” ITCE 2006

   As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Coimbatore Institute of Technology, a two days National Conference on “Innovative Technologies in Civil Engineering”  was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering during March 20 & 21, 2006.

     Dr. C. S. Viswanatha, Chief Executive of Torsteel Research Foundation in India on 20th March, inaugurated the conference.120 delegates took part  in this conference. 62 technical papers were presented by the delegates from all over India.  8 Keynote addresses were delivered by the experts from Construction Industries and Research organizations like Torsteel Research Foundation, STUP Consultants, structural Engineering Research Center, Indian Institute of Technology and Anna University. The valedictory function was held on March 21^st. Er. V. Loganathan, Managing Director, KTVR Vijayadeepa Constructions delivered Valedictory address.

       The objective of this conference was achieved by bringing together on a common platform for Researchers, Academicians and Field Engineers to discuss about the emerging technologies in the field of Civil Engineering and to suggest solutions for the key issues in infrastructure development and other related issues. Students were advised not to look for lucrative I.T. jobs but get trained into the core construction activities which has a lot potential.
