REPORT ON CIT-IBM RPP
Coimbatore Institute of Technology Organized a
two-day Research Promotion Programme, a unique program first
of its kind, sponsored by IBM India Private Limited on High
Performance Computing and Cloud Computing during 8th
-9th January 2010. Around 91 faculty members and
research scholars from about 25 engineering colleges all over
Tamilnadu participated in the programme. PG students from CIT
also attended the programme to explore the opportunities in
the high end technology area.
The Programme was focused on the advanced topics in the High
Performance Computing domain, to enable the participants to
get an insight into the current technological advancements in
the said area. Eminent speakers from IIT Chennai and IBM India
delivered lectures on High Performance Computing, Parallel
Programming, Cloud Computing Architecture, Application and
Challenges.
The chief guest Dr.D.Janakiram, Professor, IIT Chennai
inaugurated the programme His Technical talk on “Introduction
to cloud Computing” with a current research project as an
example was an excellent opening session. The technical
sessions with demos and case studies by Mr.Nysal Jan.
Mr.Ganesan Narayanasamy, Dr.Chiranjib sur, Ms.Priyadarshini
Sampath Mr.Srinivas Chidurala all from IBM India helped the
researchers to further explore the avenues for research in the
niche areas.
The programme was concluded with distribution of
participation Certificates by Dr.V. Selladurai, Principal CIT.
The participants gave excellent feed back requesting the
organizers to organize more such programmes in the coming days
for the benefit of young researchers.
