and Electronics Engineering Department of CIT, Coimbatore organised a Technical Paper contest on IT Impacts in Electrical
Engineering in Commorandum with the Golden Jubilee celebrations on
31.12.2005, to expose the students on the importance of IT based
interventions in Electrical Engineering.
Electrical Engineering has recently been
revolutionized by many advancements in the field of Information
Technology. Various technologies of IT will impart reasonable
flexibility and intelligence in Electrical Engineering. IT also
plays a significant role in all the sectors of Electrical
Engineering namely Generation, Transmission, Distribution and
Utilization. IT enhances the integration of automation, customer
care, energy auditing, supply chain management etc.,
The influence of IT in power system from
generation through utilization allow management of electric energy
more efficiently by conserving energy.
Further, more high speed large capacity network,
real-time distributed database structure and sophisticated human
interface system assist operators of electric power system to take
decisions and contribute to secured electric power system.
The paper content highlighted the above facts
and was very much informative to the young student community.
