One day Workshop On
Repair and Rehabilitation of RC Structures

A one day
workshop on " Repair and Rehabilitation of R. C. Structures "
was conducted at Coimbatore Institute of Technology on 30.12.2005.
It was jointly organised by the Department of Civil Engineering,
C.I.T., Coimbatore and Dr. Fixit Institute, Mumbai. About 120
delegates from leading construction companies, Government organisations and faculty members from different Institutions
attended this workshop.
Mr.N Muralidharan, Special Officer,
Pidilite Industries inaugurated the workshop. Prof. E. Ramasamy,
Administrative officer, Coimbatore Institute of Technology,
presided over the inaugural function. Welcome address was
delivered by Dr.K.Subramanian, Professor and Head of Civil
Engineering Department.
In the forenoon session of the workshop
a lecture on " Inspection and Rehabilitation of Structures
" was
delivered by Dr.K Subramanian, Head of Civil Engineering
Department, C.I.T., He explained about the various testing
methods and corrosion related problems. Er.V.Nagarajan, Lecturer
in Civil Engineering Department gave a lecture on " Materials for
repair and repairing techniques ". Mr. Ponsingh from Evershine
Traders, Coimbatore concentrated on case studies related with
concrete repairs.
In the afternoon session Prof. B.G.Vishnuram, Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering, V.L.B
Janakiammal College of Engineering & Technology delivered a
lecturer on " Retrofit and Repair of R.C. Columns with G.F.R.P. Composites ". Finally a lecture was delivered by Mr. N. Muralidharan, Pidilite Industries, Chennai on "
Durable repair
with new generation Chemicals " which focused on details and
application of bonding agents.
