ONE DAY NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON

TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP FOR SUSTAINABLE WATER WASTEWATER TREATMENT

                         Department of Civil Engineering, Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT), Coimbatore, Industry Institute Partnership Cell (Sponsored by AICTE) jointly organized a one day national workshop on “TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP FOR SUSTAINABLE WATER AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT” held on February 18, 2011. A total number of 90 participants which includes 10 Faculties, 80 students participated in the workshop. The participants were from Civil and Environmental Engineering Divisions. 

                        The workshop was inaugurated by Dr.K. Palanivelu, Professor, Anna University, Chennai with the eminent presence of Dr.V.Selladurai, Principal, CIT and Dr.K.Subramanian, Professor and Head of Civil Engineering , CIT. 

                        The morning session of the workshop started with a lecture delivered by Er.R.Elangovan, Executive Engineer, WRO, PWD, Coimbatore on “Sustainable technologies for water treatment”. The lecture was wonderful and gave ideas about latest sustainable technologies for water treatment.  

                        The next technical lecture was delivered by Dr.K.Palanivelu, Professor, Anna University, Chennai, on “Sustainable Treatment for Textile Wastewater” was very informative in which he explained the different techniques for treating textile mill wastewater.  

                        The final technical lecture in forenoon session was presented by Mr.K.Shanmugam, General Manager, Seshasayee Paper and Boards, Erode on “ Technology Roadmap for Sustainable Treatment of Paper Mill Effluent“ was very much interesting in which he discussed various sustainable technologies for treating paper mill effluent and also suggested the ways to make environment sustainable .  

                        The afternoon session started with the lecture delivered by Dr.K.Rasappan, Associate Professor, CIT, on “Sustainable Development”. His talk was informative and discussed about overall advantages of sustainability.  

                        The afternoon session was concluded with the lecture delivered by Dr.K.Subramanian, Professor and Head of Civil Engineering Department, CIT on “Technology Roadmap for Sustainable Wastewater Treatment “. The lecture was interesting and informative.  

                        After every session participants had discussion with the speakers and discussion session was very informative and useful to the participants. The participants appreciated well all the speakers in their feedback session. Mrs. R. Saraswathi, Organizing Secretary thanked all the participants.
