Faculty Development Program

Department of Humanities

The Department of Humanities organized a one week Faculty Development Program at Coimbatore Institute of Technology from 11th July to 17th July. The inaugural function was held on 11.07.2011 in the college premises. The occasion was graced by  Dr. Sheela Ramachandran, Vice Chancellor of Avinashilingam University for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore. The other dignitaries present were Dr.S.R.K. Prasad, Correspondent of Coimbatore Institute of Technology,                 Dr.V.Selladurai, Principal, CIT and Dr.P.Santhi. Head of the Department of Humanities, CIT. The presidential address was given by Dr.S.R.K.Prasad, where he focused on the use of modern teaching methodology. He also emphasised on the use of innovative methods in class room teaching, which would enable the young minds to bring out their caliber at their work place. Dr.Sheela Ramachandran focused on the fresh technologies that should be inculcated within the campus to help the youngsters gain better exposure in whatever aspect they deal on. She also stated that teacher should play the role of a facilitator rather a mentor. She also appreciated the department for organizing such a program which will ameliorate the teaching ability of the faculty.

 

     The Faculty Development Program focused on the innovative trends in engineering education like e learning, e content development, Transactional analysis and using information communication technology for education. Apart from that, strategies involved in publication of research papers, using right language and correct pronunciation, psychological approach to teaching was also dealt with. Resource persons with rich expertise enriched the gathering. The Faculty Development Program turned out to be a successful one.
