EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGN

 AUGUST 31, 2005

          The seminar on Embedded System Design saw its prints on Aug 31, 2005 by two experts from Satyam Computer Services Ltd, Bangalore. Mr.Sibi Mathew, being a Senior Project leader in Satyam, has domain expertise in office automation equipments like printers, handheld devices, network devices and developed VPN router on Freescale MPC8248. Mr.Harish Nagaraja, another expert from Satyam has rich experience in developing Military communication protocols like ARINC-429 and Mil-Std-1553.

The seminar was organized to help the students to get an industrial exposure in the field of Embedded Hardware and Software which presently reins the Electronics industry in India.

The seminar comprised of three sessions, the first of which oversaw the essential principles of Embedded Hardware and Software and their specific domains of application. The students acquired the basic knowledge about the interfaces like USB, RS-232, embedding the firmware inside the ROM devices, tools used for developments, etc. This was trailed by the second session comprising the robust design of Embedded Hardware through VLSI and Software through RTOS. Effective board design, optimization of code, efficient memory utilization added the flavors. To make the students to have an application view, a case study of Printer was expatiated.  

The final session of the seminar riveted on the attributes of creativity and teamwork that enthralled the pupil. They conducted Corporate Games for the students which honed their skills and created in them, an aptitude for teamwork. In a nutshell, the seminar fortified the noesis of the students in one of the powerful domains of the industry.
