Golden Jubilee  Tournaments - August 2006

 

        The Department of Physical Education in connection with the Institution's Golden Jubilee Celebrations conducted an invitation State level inter-collegiate tournament on 12th and13th August 2006. The sports Committee decided to conduct four events for men: Hockey, Football, Ball Badminton and Kabadi and two events for women: Volley ball and Ball Badminton. There was overwhelming response from various institutions throughout the state in sending participants to take part in these events.

       For men's events, seven hundred of forty two (742) sports persons registered and for women's events one hundred and seventy four (174) registered. All the teams participated with true spirit of sportsmanship and enthusiasm. The sports committee took care of their needs and the hospitality.

 

      The inaugural function of the Golden jubilee tournaments was held on 12th August 2006 at 8 AM which was presided over by Prof. E. Ramasamy, Administrative Officer and Head of the Chemical Engineering Dept.

 

    The Guests of honour who graced the occasion and introduced the various events were

  1. Mr. V. K. R. Loganathan , Former, Physical Director, CIT

  2. Dr. K. C. Ramasamy , KMCH

  3. Dr. Duraiswamy, KMCH

  4. Mr. Nagarajan, Accounts Officer, BSNL

  5. Mr. Govindan, Manager, Indian Bank, Peelamedu.

       All these events were officiated by respective District Association's officials. The standard of officiating was appreciated by the participants.

 

       The valedictory function was organised in Tennis court on 13th August 2006 at 5 PM. The valedictory function started with welcome address by Mr. V. Ragupathy, Physical Director. The function was presided  over by Dr. R. Prabhakar, Principal, CIT. The felicitation was offered by Prof. E. Ramasamy, Administrative Officer. The overall report about the tournament was read out by sports secretary Mr. M. Raja.

 

       The prizes of the shields were distributed by Dr. R. Prabhakar, Principal and Prof. E. Ramasamy, Administrative Officer to the Winners and Runners.

       All the Winners and Runners received shields in the name of their Institutions. In addition, each player from the winning team received  merit certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 800/- and each player from the runners received merit certificate and a cash prize of  Rs. 500/-.
